Whiting

'Reeling and Writhing, of course, to begin with,' the Mock Turtle replied; 'and then the different branches of Arithmetic — Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision.'
I know that the Mock Turtle said 'Writhing'  (instead of writing or whiting) but every time I see this type of fish - whiting - at the fish market, I am reminded of Alice and the lessons the Mock Turtle learned at her school and of course of the dance/song of the  Lobster Quadrille.
