Watlington whiteout

The plan for this morning was to walk the west facing escarpment slope of the Chilterns from Watlington Hill to Aston Rowant for the views across the Vale of Oxford. But, when we got to the top, thick fog had reduced the visibility to a few metres and overnight snow obliterated the footpaths so it seemed pointless to press on. In the end we settled on the steep walk up Watlington Hill and back down. Still, it was nice to be back on chalk downland for the first time since leaving Sussex.
