Corfu Old Town

An early start this morning for the 9am water taxi to Corfu Town. Stopped to visit Mouse Island just outside the harbour walls where we climbed up to the chapel at the top. Arrived in Corfu town at around 9.30am. Gary and Amanda found the most sophisticated cafe in a very old building called the Liston. After a very good coffee and croissant there we set off to explore the Old Town. Most of the little streets and alleyways were packed full of cheap souvenir shops which was a shame but I did enjoy seeing the tall colourful buildings with washing strung between apartments high overhead. After locating a bank to replenish the purse we found a tiny little coffee shop boasting that it was the oldest one in Corfu town. We stopped there and drank an iced coffee and lemon puff pastry before climbing up to the top of the Old Fortress at the head of the harbour. Back to the hotel for a leisurely lunch and an afternoon on the beach. Last day tomorrow !
