Honest Abe
Went on a little bit of hunt this morning as I had heard of, but never seen the Abraham Lincoln statute in Edinburgh. It's situated in the Old Calton Cemetery under the shadow of Calton Hill and a fine stop to wonder around even on a drab wet day like today.
As well as Lincoln the graveyard holds the graves of David Hume, publisher William Blackwood and Daniel Stewart, the founder of the hospital, then school.
It is also the site of the Political Martyrs' Monument, which is like the Washington Monument in miniature and is an obelisk erected to the memory of a number of political reformers.

Met family for a walk round the National Portrait Gallery which is presently showing an excellent exhibition of the photos of Edith Tudor Hope which I can recommend.
