‘What will survive of us is love’
The well known last line of Philip Larkin’s poem ‘An Arundel Tomb’. It was written after he visited this tomb in Chichester Cathedral and he was struck by the sight of the Earl holding his wife’s hand. As well as this tomb, the Cathedral has a beautiful stained glass window designed by Marc Chagall and this powerful bronze sculpture entitled ‘The Refugee’. It is by Diana Brandenburger who worked as an Art Therapist for the human rights organisation ‘Freedom from Torture’ and worked with families who had suffered from persecution. I spent a wonderful morning exploring this Cathedral.
