Blackbird

This little fellow was more than happy to pose outside the lounge window whilst I took his picture. Probably the only thing that has gone as planned today!
Mum’s solicitor phoned to explain the next step in possibly getting a Power of Attorney. She needs to be seen by her doctor for an assessment of her mental capacity. The result of such an assessment will determine how we proceed. Whichever way we go it’s going to be considerably more expensive and take a lot longer. There may very well be a point where we have to cut our losses, call it a day and just see what happens. And whilst I was speaking to the solicitor, the garage were leaving voicemails about picking up mum’s car to be repaired. Hopefully they will collect on Thursday, though they apologised and said it might be a while before it is returned as they are having a problem with getting parts for Fiats at the moment. I told them not to rush - the longer she can’t try and drive, the better as far as the family is concerned!
And then the rest of the day has been spent still chasing this money that should have been in our account over a month ago. The funds are stuck in the remitting bank, who are now not responding to enquiries from anyone, for some reason. The investment company won’t send the payment again in case the same thing happens, our financial planners are tearing their hair out at the lack of progress and we are stuck with an ever shrinking bank account! As a temporary measure, we have now arranged a drawdown from a different fund to tide us over, but there is no guarantee those monies will arrive before Christmas.
It could be a very cold and cheerless Christmas Day if we don’t get something resolved in the next ten days…
