Call in the Jury....

Today was my first day with my sister and one of our favourite things to do on our overseas vacations is go to art museums...well, Whitby doesn't have a plethora of art museums, but we do have our Station Gallery just down the street...an old train station turned into an art gallery? Seem it is the thing to do these days with old railway stations...so off we went..

The current exhibition is their 30th Annual Juried Exhibition where members or patrons get to submit a work of art to be "juried"..and we, as guests, get to pick our People's Choice...I found it really interesting to see the differences  - first of all in the submissions - watercolours, oils and acrylics, mixed media, sculptures, pottery, photography, pen and ink...and then in what we picked as our favourites...My sister's pick was SO different than mine...Hmmm

We are so lucky to have that gallery almost on our doorstep as they also offer workshops..I have signed up for two series in the new year....one in pen and ink with a dab of watercolour, and a series in just water-colour...I am hoping that will help me get through the long winter ahead...

Now, what to do for entertainment when my brother comes tomorrow...
