A Halifax Pub

The 'Running Man' was named in honour of John Lacey who in 1617 famously escaped execution in Halifax where he was due to be beheaded by the gibbet (forerunner of the guillotine). He ran off before the blade could fall but foolishly returned to the town seven years later and was captured and beheaded.
