Pick and mix

A short cut along North Braeheads gave this unusual view of the back of Saltoun Square and a mishmash of architectural styles. The domed rotunda of 'the wonderfully flamboyant baroque' former Town House (1853- 55), now the Faithlee Centre, is seen between traditional 19c granite buildings and the recent controversial brutal metal extension to the Centre.

The extra is the front of the Town House from which a statue of Lord Saltoun, complete with rusty sword looks down on the town centre.
