Animals in winter 1 (Cows)
The corner of our yard abuts next door's cowshed. You can hear the sound of munching and squelching. Steam and dust motes cloud the air.
By standing on an old gate against the wall you can look down on shifting, straw-sprinkled backs illuminated in the morning sunlight.
Fresh air, food and company probably mean it's as good a way of passing the cold season as any, if you're a cow.
