Ice fangs

Well that’s what these icicles looked like by our boiler vent.

I returned from the shops to find that our washing machine had flooded the floor. It transpired that the outside pipes had previously frozen solid from water lying in a bend in the pipe. As the machine tried to pump away the water it backed up and spilled over the sink!

As I worked to open a trap outside to clear the sink and thaw the bend, our son mentioned that I was working with danger above.

I seem to remember a story where the perfect murder was an icicle. It killed the victim but the evidence melted away. I had no wish to test the theory, even as an accident, so we removed the icicles.

All sorted now but it just shows how the cold seeps in.
