A day at the seaside.

We had a trip up to Saltburn on the East coast today. It is in Cleveland and I'm not sure whether that is still in North Yorkshire or not but it should be!

It was an opportunity to meet up with my sister in law, Ron and her partner Ian who live in Northumberland. We had lunch in the Spa Hotel in the conservatory and we were very aware of the heavy bursts of rain on the roof, but it did clear up and we were able to take to the cliff tops for a walk.

Last time we were here it was December and it was blowing a gale. Also the famous tramway wasn't in operation. Today it was so we jumped at the chance to use it down to the promenade and the pier. As you can see the little tram carriage is quite beautiful. Wood seats and panelling and lovely stained glass windows.

The rest of the afternoon was bright and we even walked on the beach. We may get there one day and have really nice weather then we could walk up the wooded Valley gardens or even onto the headland in the distance.

Whatever the weather it is nice to see old friends.
