Kickstart
In many ways a lovely day with a few hiccups along the way.
Started with my annual eye check at optician’s which was fine…no prescription change….although I always forget how the eye drops make it hard to see afterwards for a while, especially as I came out into strong low sunlight. Beautiful crisp cold day with bright sunshine and a pretty hard frost staying throughout…I should be out in the hills!
Went shopping and should only need to have gone once but of course forgot things and had to return twice later on. Pootled along in the kitchen making dinner for friends this evening, listening to Radio 3 and a couple of episodes of The Rest is Politics podcast. Made Nigella’s Soft and Sharp Involtini, roasted pumpkin with lemon yoghurt sauce and green salad with green goddess dressing, then chocolate mousse, amaretti biscuits and berries for dessert. Just finished doing everything in time to run down to town for a haircut and then run back up again before they arrived. Chatted non stop over the food then we moved to the sitting room to do some knitting. I’d been stuck on the pattern for this throw that I started months ago and CR was brilliant sorting it out for me so I could move on to the next couple of rows. The symbols they’ve used to signal the cable pattern are so confusing…may have to colour code it all…that despite it being huge needles and thick yarn I suspect it will take me ages. Good to be back on it though. CMB working on a scarf and CR on a poncho…she’s an amazing knitter. Lots of chat about their work, the National Tapestry in Galashiels, slavery and planned trips.
Lovely evening
