Frost
We walked in Gillingshill Nature Reserve this morning. It was sunny and dry and very cold. There were beautifully frost crystals everywhere and icicles as twicicle as nicicle in the burn (extra). The reservoir was completely frozen. No sign of the swans or coots, just some gulls wandering around on the ice. We heard one buzzard and saw two kestrels. It’s fair to see we enjoyed ourselves.
This afternoon we walked along to see Mitch, with better luck this time. He had an emergency visit to the dentist yesterday, then was shattered when he came home, hence my difficulty getting hold of him. We exchanged Christmas presents and caught up on each other’s news, then Geordie and I walked back by the shore. It was bitterly cold as it was after 4 o’clock, and the sun had gone down. When we got to the bathing pool there were two women and a man in swimming! There was I with several layers, padded jacket, and hat, scarf and gloves, and there they were in freezing cold water in swimsuits! I admit it’s beyond my understanding.
