Remember them that are in bonds
Today was a grey day. Little glimpses of sunshine, so I spent most of the day in the conservatory potting up my millions of seedlings and dreaming of warmer summer days in a riot of colour.
I did pop into town for an hour earlier in the day and paid a wee visit to the Clarkson Memorial. This is what it has to say:
Thomas Clarkson 1760-1845, was born in Wisbech and devoted his life to the abolition of slavery.
It was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and has a relief of a design created by Josiah Wedgwood which bears the words:
"Remember them that are in bonds"
Let's hear it for good old Thomas Clarkson ... hip hip ....
