First day of snow this winter, quite a thick covering when we woke up this morning. 
Lots of birds in the garden this morning taking advantage of the slightly warmer temperatures to visit the feeders : the usual groups of chaffinches and sparrows, a few goldfinches and blackbirds, the occasional Dunnock and pigeons. 
Panic stations this afternoon with a burst pipe in the garage causing a torrent of water to flow down the already frozen driveway. Amazingly, as I was in the house trying to call a plumber, one walked past on the way to help a neighbour and very kindly came to help us too! We were very grateful, he fixed the pipe in no time then was off to his next appointment. A busy time of year for plumbers!
