Arnside - the sea has frozen

Not the best start to a day. We rose early to drive down to Lancashire to attend the funeral of the Father of one of Debs best friends. Were making good progress despite the cold conditions ~(the thermometer was reading -10 degrees on the M6) Idiots were still driving past us at 90mph.

Then we got stuck in a tailback - an accident had blocked two lanes of the motorway and traffic was down to a standstill. We moved about 100 yards in half an hour, the time ticked away and we clearly weren't going to make it. Gutted.

We came off the motorway and headed to Arnside, where we had planned to stop at on the way home. Although it was on the coast, the temperature was way lower than even the Lakes. Walking out along the estuary, we were amazed to see the edge of the sea had frozen - it's very many years since I've seen that.
