The Yule Goat

Today one of the Tomtems (gnomes) wanted to try riding the goat.   I wanted to get some bokeh with tree lights.   Had to use an app to do it…..my camera can’t quite get a big enuf aperture at these distances.     The yule goat has a long history, perhaps pulling the god Thor’s chariot and providing food every night by being slaughtered only to rise again the following morning.  Somewhere along the way it became a good spirit who made sure all the Christmas preparations were done right…especially on the farm…and the harvest produced good wheat and straw. And then later he became the Christmas gift giver, with a relation to father Christmas, the yultomte.       Lots of folk tales about this popular straw goat.

Had coffee with a friend, a walk , decorated the tree…minimal lights and all the grandchild ornaments., watched part of Nik’s bball game from California…he only got to play a few minutes…and tonight was to be a home game for Oskar that we planned to go to but he sprained his ankle at the last away game so won’t be playing.  It’s always something,.   4 games in 5 days was too much for his ankle.   Trying to work on my xmas card…. the days keep flying by…
