Hanging on!

We decided to deliver some cards around the village this morning and combine it with a walk up Goit Stock. Still cold but much less bright and frosty than the last few days so we wanted to take a look at the ice before it disappeared.
We had a bit of rain and the paths were quite slippy in places but it was worth the walk to see the icicles at the waterfall.

I admit I have seen them looking more spectacular but still good to see. ( In the winter of 1981/2 when son Alex was a baby we had a big freeze that lasted a month and I remember making it up there to see the frozen waterfall with the pram!)

There were two guys either side of the beck with cameras on tripods and another with a drone but I managed my picture with out getting any of them!

We called at son Alex’s house for a cuppa on the way back to the village and Chris pruned his rose for him. He is coming later for an early Christmas dinner. We normally have him round on Sunday but tomorrow is the Carol service at church in the evening. It was noticeably warmer when we left his house, the thaw is setting in, might be 15 degrees on Monday!

Since getting back I have  made some spiced red cabbage to freeze and take down to Bath and a spiced apple crumble for afters thus evening as Alex isn’t keen on Christmas pudding.
That’s all the apples used up now.

Calling at the PO I spotted what might have made a good Silly Saturday blip outside the butchers -  Sorry, no sandwiches till next year
