Walk don't run!

A touch less frosty last night (no more than -0.6) though the drive is still too slippery to risk driving down. I decided to walk down to the town to get our usual fresh fish and a few other  essentials, but many of the pavements in the town centre are still lethal. Station Square, which is where the buses and trains come in, was very icy. I watched an elderly lady who had presumably come off the ferry trying to pull a suitcase across the square and stay on her feet at the same time. The council may be saving a few quid, but they’ll know all about it when somebody slips and breaks their skull, and sues them for £1,000,000!

On the way back up to Jacob’s Ladder, which was mostly ice-free, I noticed that the Tweedale Street car park was closed, with a couple of cops watching members of the public gritting the entrance with salt from a nearby bin. The cars inside were unable to get out, probably islanders coming back to take their cars to the ferry. Not good enough, Oban!

Looks like an afternoon indoors in the warm - it’s been trying to rain, so far unsuccessfully, and at the last look the temperature had risen to +5 degrees!
