Evening heron

Well, what a day today has been.

We knew there had been a problem whilst we were away but before we got home yesterday our neighbours (who have been feeding the cats) told us there was water from the ceiling!!! 

They turned off the water for us but when we got home we also discovered that the our water treatment system had blown too (we are on private water and have to treat it ourselves). We found the leak in the loft and made sure everything was shut off properly.

Plumber came out and sorted both leaks and we were happily thinking that we managed to get away with it. I had to take down one of the lights as it was still full of water and about 2 minutes after doing that the ceiling came down. Lots more water to clear up as well as plasterboard and insulation :( - so much for the holiday - almost all forgotten in the chaos.

We now have to dry everything out and then replace the ceiling - oh and this has all happened on new flooring that we put down about a week before we went away.

It could be worse :)
