The Goods Shed

We drove into Canterbury for J's dental checkup, then went to the Goods Shed, a farmers' market/food hall beside Canterbury West station which also has a very well reputed restaurant using produce from the market and has been selling local vegetables, cheeses, beers and much more for over twenty years now. We are still very much limiting our forays into indoor spaces, as J remains potentially very vulnerable to Covid infection, so most of my outings are to her medical appointments. It was therefore a treat to pop into the Goods Shed to choose goats' and sheep's cheeses from the extensive range sold by Canterbury Cheesemakers. It's not a great photo, as the bright afternoon sun through the west windows gave lovely warm light on the rafters but the contrasts were too much for the little camera and basic editing software, and an indoor space is such a rarity for me and so different from most of my journal to date that it would have been a pity not to make it my main photo. The extra - the penultimate for the year! - is my favourite image from the day, delicate frost patterns on the garden room window, caught in the moments before they melted in the sun which is so nicely backlighting one of the smaller money plants. It was another exceptionally cold morning.
