Penicuik Community Art

I was in Penicuik today, running the 10k race. On our way home, Ian and I saw these trees with woollen coats. I know it's cold, but do trees need protection against the weather? On a closer look, I read this:

Created by the people of Penicuik. Craft bombing: for the enjoyment of our community. Voluntary Arts Week 2013.

Earlier in Edinburgh, I saw iron railings with colourful woollen coats. Maybe this is another community arts project?
