Taking cover.
Well, where do I begin?........................................................!!!
Going down to visit Mum in the Lake District today. Got ready early, CD's & bottles of water in the car. dropped OH off at work, dropped Bailey off at his Grandads and headed off down the road on my todd.
It was blowing a hooley and the rain was lashing down. Just got past West Linton on the A702 when suddenly, out of nowhere the windscreen wipers stopped working!
Total misery. If I had known then that it would dry up and stay dry the rest of the day I might have waited a bit until it stopped then started off again but unfortunately I didn't have my Heather the Weather hat on so I sat for a bit at the side of the road contemplating my next move then turned round and crawled back up to West Linton in a very unsafe, not really able to see where I was going sort of way to try to find a garage.
Everything was shut, I stopped at the shop to see if they could point me in the direction of a garage that might be open on a Saturday morning.
The girl directed me to one she knew of so off I dangerously started again.
Well I never found said garage. I ended up on some back woods, windy farm road which went nowhere with my nose pressed up against the windsceen trying to make sure I was staying on the road and wasn't hitting any oncoming cars. Thankfully because I was so in the middle of nowhere there was no other cars.
I must have driven for over half an hour through hill and dale. Eventually made it back to Penicuik where the man at Kwik Fit had a look at it and pronounced it would need to go to a proper Renault garage as it might be a computer problem or the wipers might need a new motor and they couldn't fix it.
Phoned the garage and they couldn't look at it before monday morning.
By this time the rain had stopped but there was no way I could risk a three hour journey on the motorway without wipers if the rain started again so off home I went.
The rest of the day was very uneventful.
Oh I forgot to say, by the time I got home the wipers were working again (of a fashion - very slowly, obviously not right though)
I took this pic whilst I was in the middle of nowhere looking for the garage that wasn't there.
