Across the High Peak to Manchester for a wedding I don't want to go to.
I heard about this do loosely several months ago, no formal invitation incoming. Him indoors suggested it was 19 November and I went about my business on that basis, knowing I was not available (having already planned a weekend in Bristol visiting my newly widowed friend).
I bought train tickets to London for the day, arranged to go to the Lord Mayor's Show and then on to lunch and a bevy frenzy.
We received a message along the lines of 'are you coming next week or what?'. Turns out the lack of an invitation excuse holds no water when it's 'faaaamly'.
The family in question is Gary's ex wife's, including her, which is nice. His niece, sister of the bride, said she owed me an apology, she realised it wasn't me keeping him away from them, it's a misunderstanding and not my 'fault'. Really? What the...? Not awkward at all.
