Poinsettia
I buy one of these every year in time to decorate my mum's house for her birthday and consequent visitors. And since she died in 2015 I have continued to have one in the house on the 10th.
Euphorbia pulcherima got its name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, a botanist and the first US Minister to Mexico. From 1826 he sent them from Mexico to his greenhouses in South Carolina. So we have him to thank for it gracing our homes at this time of year.
We went to the lodge today to try to get the decorations put up, then When we got back home, I completed our own festive ornamentation.
