View from the top

I snapped this picture of the pileated woodpecker from the observation deck at the top of the sledding hill in our park. The bird was actually on a tree a little below me, so I was looking down on him. The last time I blipped a pileated was on February 5th, and I hadn't seen one in the park for several months. Today I ran into John, walking his two dog, and he told me he had just seen three of them in one place, and they were making a fearsome racket. A short time later I spotted this fellow. What a treat! I was afraid they had moved on to new territory. I posted more pictures of him on my blog.
