Making Connections

One of the things I enjoy most is sharing the many pleasures of Bellingham with visiting family and friends, and when those visitors are Blippers as well, it's even more enjoyable!

This afternoon I introduced LadyFindhorn and Berkeleyblipper to some of my favorite places, beginning with the Bellingham Farmers Market, which was looking its best on a sunny day and filled with interesting people, produce, flowers, food, and handcrafts. It was lovely to see the market afresh through their eyes, and to introduce them to many of the vendors, including the artist who made my wall quilt.

After seeing some of ArtistAnnie's fine paintings at a show in Fairhaven, we met up with the artist herself and her husband Arvin at the Bookfare Cafe in Village Books, where we enjoyed a chat and lemonade or coffee drinks. Ann and I did the honors for each other in trio photography -- thank you, Ann, for this lovely photo, and I'm glad that you liked the one I did of you, Lady Findhorn, and Berkleyblipper!

We couldn't leave Fairhaven without a brief stroll on the Taylor Dock boardwalk, after which we said goodbye to Ann and Arvin, and headed for our last stop, Lake Padden Park. We made the most of our brief time there, with a stroll in one of the prettiest areas, stopping whenever we saw something that we wanted to photograph. Just before we headed back to the car, another park visitor showed us where a bald eagle was perched in a tree, calmly gazing out over the lake -- a wonderful final "gift" from this lovely place to our visitors.

I wished we had been able to meet up with local blipper CelloNerd as well today, but that will have to wait until next time. And I do hope there will be a next time, as we so enjoyed our time with Lady Findhorn and His Lordship, and Berkeleyblipper and Oilman -- Haste ye back!

(Phil took HisLordship and Oilman to a few of Bellingham's finest beer establishments this afternoon -- judging from his blip today, it looks like they had a good time, too!)
