Party reprise: the music room
Given that we last threw a Christmas drinks party on 14th December 2019, we were very excited to welcome our guests this evening.
As is the tradition, Jon arrived first just before 6pm. The last of our guests left at 2:00am*, and we were in bed about 40 minutes later. Between these times we: served a lake of Champagne; proffered hot honey soy cocktail sausages; directed guests to stacks of cheese twists, mince pies, Crécy pies, mini-quiches, baby tomatoes, tangerines, and celery/carrot batons; let folk in and out of the flat; gave guided tours of the shower room; invited all to sign the drying plaster on the corrindor wall; contributed to the musical exploits in the study (blipped); and danced at the kitchen disco.
We dedicated the whole day up to about 5:30pm to preparing the food listed above, and readying the house for the arrival of our friends. These tasks included clearing the porch of our own coats and shoes to make space for our guests' coats and the bottles of Champagne that did not fit in the fridge, lifting the rug in the sitting room (our most precious belonging) in case of any spillages, clearing all the kitchen worktops to make room for putting out glasses and drinks, and making signs for the two bathrooms (see the extra). It's a lot of work, but well worth it for all the fun.
*Had nadinepierce been able to come, it would have most likely been a little later, as per 2018.
Exercise today: walking/dancing (15,818 steps).
