Back blip
Another prison wall mural - some great art!
Housework and preparing for the week to come on the IH London online CELTA course.
I think that's all my back blips now on. Phew! For the last month or so I've been busy working on a part-time CELTA course with IH London on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as teaching practice tutor from 9th November till 8th December. Of course, it wasn't only the live Zoom time on the two days, but also preparation for tutorials, being up-to-speed with the course book materials to be able to help with lesson planning and then deal with trainees' questions. This was the first time I worked on a Moodle-based course - basically all the input is given on the Cambridge platform in the form of the candidates having to watch videos, answer quizzes and take part in discussion forums and the trainees are told which modules to work through weekly and they get on with it independently. In the other courses I've worked on, the tutors have given live input sessions on Zoom. I much prefer the live input sessions! As a tutor, you can refer back to your sessions, they're more memorable for the trainees as they can be more personalised and, last but not least, the tutors and trainees to know each other better.
I was also working as a student on a test writing course with the British Council, which I passed, thankfully. Now I'm on a 3 month probationary contract - so we'll see how that goes and see if I actually like the work and feel like it's something I want to continue to do.
And then, just all the usual stuff in the lead up to Christmas and coming away to Rio. Oh, and an online assessment on a UK based course on 12th December and catching up with friends before coming away! Time slipped away, as did Blip. Hopefully now back on track!
