Beginnings and Endings

Very nearly the shortest day of the year - the winter solstice is tomorrow. I got up earlier than usual, and loved the crescent moon high up in the dark sky.

First thing to the dentist for my 6 monthly check. As I sat waiting to go in the receptionist was taking a call. “I’ve got Covid, can I still come in this morning”. That got a firm NO. Our latest info, a week or so out of date now, is that 1 in 27 people have Covid and rates are rising, whilst the occurance of other respiratory bugs is four times higher. This is always a challenging time of year for us.

I ended the short day catching the sun sinking behind a thick bank of trees, and casting an ethereal light over the Moss. I am looking forward to the lengthening days, albeit it’s a slow process at first.
