The Old Ball Game
On This Day In History
1891: The first baseball game played
Quote Of The Day
"Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona."
(George Will)
Japan's oldest baseball stadium, Koshien Stadium, was established in 1924. It was built to host Japan's high school baseball tournaments which are held twice yearly. It became the home ground for the Osaka Tigers in 1936; the team changed its name to the Hanshin Tigers and then changed it back to the Osaka Tigers in 1947. In 1961, they became the Hanshin Tigers again, the name they retain to this day.
You may not find peanuts and Cracker Jacks at the Koshien Stadium, but you can get great ramen and yakisoba.
The Old Ball Game

The Worry Song
