THE OLD WATERING HOLE
One nice thing about being a non-migrating duck or goose in the Milwaukee area there's always open water at the zoo. This is one of the koi ponds located on the zoo grounds and they keep it pretty much ice free all winter. It's a duck and goose magnet.

There's always plentiful food available all year as well. From left over stuff fed to the zoo's animals to popcorn dropped by zoo visitors. These birds live a pretty stress-free winter existence. Open water...food...few predators...no need to fly south. What's not to like?
