The day before Christmas Eve

There have been mutterings back and forth about the French TGV strike, as the Dutch side of the family were planning to come by train, but they have now hired a minivan and are en route!
Meanwhile, Mr F’s sister and her husband arrived from the UK, via StMalo, at lunchtime., just as I was leaving for Bordeaux.
I collected youngest son and his wife (aka the notsonewleyweds) who flew in from Dublin today. Belfast to France doesn’t fly in the winter, so they drove down to Dublin, but once on the Bordeaux Rocade the traffic was awful. What usually took 90 minutes took three hours!!
Mr F and his brother in law went off to watch La Rochelle get thrashed, so we cooked confit de canard, pommes rissolés with lardons and onions and drank rather a lot of crémant de Limoux until they came home.
It’s been a long day.
