High House

Very wet day. Braved the trains and went to Stafford to act as a witness for a civil partnership for 2 friends who have been together for 31 years and 2 days. They have never wanted to be married (both married before and divorced), but are concerned now about tax position when one of them dies. So now legally attached. Very low-key affair. No celebrations!
Would have liked to visit the High House - reputedly the largest timber framed building still in existence in England. Tudor and rather wonky! Unfortunately it was closed. Back home on a delayed train!
