Palace Christmas Lunch
A return after three long years to the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio de Janeiro and the feel good factor was back, helped by a warm welcome from several waiters who remembered us from before. The musical duet hit every spot with their Bossa Nova and wider repertoire . . . I Will Survive and Hallelujah, to name but two. It reminded us of Terence Davies and how he highlighted the power of popular music in his film Distant Voices; the togetherness engendered by a sing-a-long with everyone knowing exactly what note and chord comes next. All the more resonant in this pandemic age.
Merry Christmas!
