The Pie

Jo and Greg drove here from Maghull this morning and arrived in time for bacon sandwiches and for Jo to help her dad with his Christmas Pie. She finally did the creative bit of adding holly leaves. Greg and I kept out of the way until called to see the pie before it went in the oven. Here they are just deciding whether Coopers was any help at all - maybe accepting a bit of leftover sausagemeat counts as help!

The finished pie is in extras - anyone with the December issue of ‘Good Food’ will be impressed as it looks just like the picture. This is for our family gathering in Kent so it’s just the task of getting it there in one piece . . .

Now I’m waiting for the three to return from the football - Carlisle playing Bradford City, how could they not go! (Were our whole Christmas plans based round the football?) Then I have ready something sparkling, salmon starter and venison casserole. Tomorrow we all head South.

(Joanne is wearing a jumper which she thinks she’s had since she was about 15. My mother used to buy these jumpers at Dog Shows and we all got them - she must be the only one still to have one. She needed a Christmas jumper for a ‘do’ they went to and decided this would be perfect.)
