Crook at work
I’ve seen some pretty cool animal handling in my time, our neighbour in Brazil,Donna Eufrásia, would walk up to one of her goats, hold its front hoof between her toes and crouch down and milk it! Today Jaime wanted to catch one of his sheep to treat it for diarrhoea, I offered to help but he said it wasn’t necessary. He stripped a few leafy twigs off an olive tree and threw them on the ground and the sheep all came together to eat them, then he casually crooked the leg of the sick one and got on with the treatment (a leg crook has a much narrower hook than a neck crook and has the advantage that the animal doesn’t spoil things by changing direction.
