From a Window

It rained all day and we took it easy, walking the grounds and taking a drive through country roads.

I sat and enjoyed the rain a while by the hotel window, remembering all the other times we were here. In the spring after Ron had surgery, we came here to recharge. In the winter with my mom, we walked slowly down the icy steps hand in hand to see the fountain frozen over. In the summer when I was pregnant with Linc, we stayed the night and took photos by the koi pond when everything was alive and green.

A Robin flew up from a nearby branch and kept me company while I thumbed through years of memories. I watched its feathers blow in the heavy wind and then he was gone.

We got back late and went to see the lights still up from Christmas, then had spaghetti for dinner.
