Job done!
A summary of the weekend (paraphrased of sorts) courtesy of one of the key organisors:
A thoroughly excellent weekend from which I'm sure we'll all take away some great memories and new friendships - and perhaps a few aches and pains.
We would just like to give a big heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who took part in the ride, either as a rider, support crew or helped us out with any of the admin in the run up - a great team effort - well done!!
I get the impression that some people did considerably better than they had expected and enjoyed the whole event more as a result. We certainly made some new acquaintances and generally had a great time, both on the bikes and socialising the rest of the time.
The support crew made a huge contribution with keeping us on the right road, feeding, watering and delivering all things banana!!!! A lot of us wouldn't have been able to complete the ride without them - and a good many of us would have taken even greater detours along the way. The Lanercost Loop will live long in the memories of some!
It was great (although very emotional) meeting Geoff and his family at South Shields and they were all more than delighted with the efforts and selfless commitment to making it work in support of Geoff. Lets all hope that he continues in a positive frame of mind and makes some real progress that will allow him to move forward with life.
There are hundreds, if not a thousand, photos of the event online - just check out the website http://www.cyclingforproffitt.co.uk/Photos/photo_gallery_homepage.asp,
Of the weekend though, here was the best bit...
The End!!
