National Museum of Rural Life
Another dark and wet day. Headed to East Kilbride to the National Museum of Rural Life, we got there for it opening at 10 and had the whole place to ourselves, clearly a wander round a wet farm is not what many people choose to do at the end of December! The museum building houses a collection of tractors, combine harvesters and other farming machinery and explains 300 years of rural history of Scotland.
The main attraction for me, and I’m sure most children, is the working farm with Clydesdales, Tamworth pigs, Aberdeen Angus & Highland cattle, sheep and hens and is a 10 minute walk away. There is also a tractor trailer ride to the farm if you don’t fancy the wind and rain on a day like today. The tractor did bring a few families up at 11am but it was still a lot quieter than I had expected unlike the Silverburn Shopping Centre Car Park that we drove past on our way home which was mobbed. I am happy with my choice of destination!
