Modernism in Huddersfield

Huddersfield is far more than a nineteenth century mill town. It has some great 20th century buildings too. Long a favourite of mine is the 1936 Co-operative, which has been closed for some time. But on an afternoon wander I noticed Buxton House (1965-8) for the first time, with its splendid geometric mural. The two extras show more of the building.

I also walked along the tight valley which contains the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the River Colne. Some attractive buildings there too.
