Sunlit
A beautiful day - definitely not one for staying indoors - so went for a run from Brandon Country Park & out into the forest to the south. The Country Park was quite busy, but there were fewer people out on the trails we chose; mountain bikers use the car park but then head over to the more exciting trails around High Lodge (the Forestry England place with very expensive parking!!).
The Blip is a phone shot of the mausoleum in the Country Park. It always seems to be a dark & gloomy place, surrounded by mature trees & small yews, but this time the sun filtering through the trees was highlighting the flint & stonework. Pity I didn't have my "proper" camera!! The estate was originally owned & developed by Edward Bliss, who apparently made his fortune from selling local flint as gun flint to the army during the Napoleonic Wars. The mausoleum was to be the final resting place for his wife & himself, though their remains were moved to the local cemetary at some point, maybe when that part of the estate was turned into a local authority country park.
