Green Heron
Green Heron (Butorides virescens) on the Rail Trail from Station Road--very close to the path. It was moving forward extremely slowly, gradually lifting one foot after another. I saw it capture three minnows, much too fast for this blipper :)
It was our best day on the trail since we returned from France. Other good species included warbling vireo, warblers (yellow, common yellowthroat, black-and-white, redstart), rose-breasted grosbeak, Baltimore oriole, and the flickers among previous species.
