Checked out of the hotel. I realised that I urgently needed a waterproof jacket! Achieved the mission at Rheged which is a great discovery for M6 ‘services’ without the queues.
Back up the road to visit family and crack open my bottle of birthday whisky. The jury is divided. My dad and I think it is as good as some Scotch, my English husband is less sure and thinks it needs more years in the barrel.
