Lesson in Humility

Since I will be at Kristen’s for the next four days/nights, I spent the morning tidying up things at home. We organized the refrigerators, making sure hubby had a few meals that just needed to be heated. There are tons of cookies left; I put together a few tins to distribute. When I went to water my plants downstairs, a few violets were in bloom. I love how this variety has purple highlights on the pink blooms. Trevor left for his weekend dog sitting job soon after I arrived to take charge of the grand pups. Kristen and family were in Belize today. They got to visit at least one family whose house she and her hubby helped build while on a previous mission trip. She and Rosa have stayed in touch so it was a heartwarming visit. Kristen hopes to go back to help build more homes as soon as she finishes her college degree. Her classes are just too intense at the moment. My grands were given a tour of several homes our parishioners, including my hubby, built. The neighborhoods are very poor and dangerous; they were with an armed guard/friend who works with Hand in Hand Ministries, the group who oversees the home construction. What a humbling lesson they received on their own blessings. Hopefully it will inspire them to do charitable work as well when they become adults. They also had time to enjoy the beautiful beaches and scenic area in other parts of Belize. I added a photo Kristen sent me of her family with Rosa’s. Hubby will join my other children at a friend’s 50th birthday party tonight. It is being held at our favorite wing pub but I am not comfortable leaving old Diesel boy who needs frequent outside visits. We will enjoy a quiet evening with my Kindle and their comfy dog beds. Wishing you a safe and healthy New Year’s weekend. Thanks for your visit. “The humble soul is like the violet, which grows low, hangs the head downward, and hides itself with its own leaves.” - Fredrika Bremer
