So which underlay?

Out hunting for a real carpet and underlay to try and improve room temp & noise from below. Currently only have fibreboard and the thinest (degrading in the sun) carpet ever. Current underlay thought is recycled wool with rubber backing... but is it worth the extra cost?
Next step is to choose a carpet!
