Streets of Saigon

This weekend I had a great honor to celebrate a friend's birthday and as part of the activities (as we get older we sometimes become more creative than just indulging in the visit to the local watering hole) - we participated in a great Vietnamese food class.

Day started with a ride in the typical Saigonese rickshaw - and indeed make sure you book this type of trip through professionals - as driving in between buses, motorbikes and cars is not a task for the light-hearted - which we drove around Ben Than Market towards a more reclusive food street. As per our guides informed descriptions - it was the street with one of the first food markets in Saigon. The great thing is that despite Saigon morphing into an typical 21st century developing country metropolis (with its atypical high rise builings) - it has retained its characteristics of the past - and what better place to see this than at the local market.

So this photo is taken at this market - I really liked the colors of this house front and the climbing greenery.
