Preparation is the key to success...

Dinner for 8 at ours on Thursday so getting ahead with the preparations.  

Despite our best endeavours we are usually last minute when it comes to entertaining, with us being ready literally seconds before the door bell rings (NB If you ever visit us, I beg you, NEVER be early!!! :-)) so today was spent getting organised including setting the table, looking out serving dishes, finalising my food order, setting up the cocktail bar (not as grand as it sounds, basically gathering all the bottles of alcohol and cocktail accoutrements and glasses on the kitchen table :-) and doing those little jobs around the house that never get done until company is expected!

One of my favourite tasks is putting the name tags in the little apple place settings.  These were a gift from my wonderful pal LeeAnne for my birthday a few years ago and they bring me such pleasure.  She also printed out all the name tags after going though my FB and noting who we socialised with the most.  She also gave me a pile of blank tags and a wipeable marker so I could write the names of any guests who don't have a printed card.  Everyone comments on them and are delighted to see their names printed.  

Final check of my food list and and updated to do list for tomorrow.  It will mainly be a food prep day.
