2022 Ends
I have had a social day to end the year. We went to see friends for morning tea and sat outside in their big garden. After coffee and a lot of conversation we were a offered a glass of bubbles to toast the end of the year. Their daughter and family popped in and the girls got out the golf cart and practiced driving around the lawn. Their dad is an engineer and had bought the electric golf cart and got it going. It is going to be for him to use at the golf course but in the mean time it is a neat toy. We also came home with a big bag of avocados from Allan's trees.
I thought this might amuse the U.S blippers. Costco has just come to New Zealand but only one store in the biggest city of Auckland. Lovely daughter's friend from Christchurch had requested they go there. Who knew Costco was a tourist destination. My great niece had also been there while visiting and took home a suitcase of toilet paper. Lovely daughter and friend have dined out in Auckland and will watch the fireworks later. Here we will likely be asleep.
Our street drinks were held tonight rather than last night and that was a pleasant end to the year. It was another still evening. Our particular part of suburbia seems very quiet and I assume people are away on holiday. My sister is still peaceful in Burwood Hospital receiving palliative care. It has been a week now. Maybe she wants to see the year out. This is an example of the sort of things I have heard from people when they hear of her situation. It is a learning experience to be sure.
Happy New Year to everyone. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2023.
